One of the largest outgoings when running a building is utilities, you will find below, useful advice that may help you to lower your utility expenditure. 

Utilities

DTAS has been a partner in the Energy Action Group (EAG) since 2013, and currently a partner with Touchstone Energy Services. DTAS Energy offers an independent and impartial brokering service to businesses, to find the best energy deals and/or managing your energy consumption more effectively. They will also help you source a business water provider.

For gas the current provider is Totalenergies https://www.gov.scot/publications/natural-gas-framework-agreement/

For electricity the current provider if EDF https://www.gov.scot/publications/electricity-framework-agreement/

For Water the current provider is Business Stream https://www.gov.scot/publications/water-and-waste-water-services-framework/

Water Exemption

If you have an income of less than £300,000 you may be eligible for a full or partial exemption on your water and sewerage charges. You will need to contact your water provider for an application form.

As your community building will be classified as a business you are able to choose the provider for your water and sewerage supply. Scotland on tap will be able to help you source the cheapest supplier for you.

Business Rates

Depending on your activities you may be eligible for 80% mandatory relief on business rates and possibly an additional 20% discretionary relief.
